IPL derails India T20 world cup prospects

  • Do you think Indian Premier League is responsible for Indian Cricket Team performance in WestIndies? There is a persistent and noticeable dip in Team India's world cup T20 fortunes since the IPL began.
  • Do you think IPL - grueling masala cricket is leaving our players mentally tired and emotionally exhausted?Don't you think IPL is coming at the cost of Team India?
  • Don't you think Men in blues are still not best on bouncy wickets?
  • Are selectors not responsible for this performance by choosing players on reputation, not form? Do you think Yuvraj Singh should be a part of Team India T20 Squad this time?

There are number of such questions with every Indian. Can we get someone who can give answers to all these questions and give some justice to cricket loving Indians.

  1. IPL has ensured that Indians play only for money. Where is the moolah in T-20 world cup? No money, no play. As simple as that. Playing for the pride of the country be damned. Look at Aussies. Even their IPL players are delivering as much, if not more, as they did when they played in IPL. For them, pride of the country comes first. For Indians, it is moolah which comes first and last. Whether this moolah comes from IPL or endorsements, is immaterial. With this attitude, how can any one expect Indians to perform in T-20 World Cup? On top of that, if selection of players is done on whims and wishes, instead of form and substance, this is what happens. So team India members, please come back quickly to India. All the big advertisers are waiting impatiently for further shoots.

  3. I think our poor form is due to the following reasons:
    A. Fatigue factor due to IPL. There should have been atleast one more week to acclimatize in the Caribbeans.
    B. Very poor selection based on big names and not on current form. The bowler with the purple cap and the best batsman could not find a place. If Tandulkar can play in the grueling IPL why can't he play for India.
    C. The money factor of IPL could be a reason. The players don't seem to be motivated enough. Irfan Pathan was the best all rounder in India & can clear the boundry with ease....he was not selected. Robin Utathapa is a better finisher than Yusuf Pathan. Yuvraj has been woefully out of form & should not have found a place. Jadeja had not played competitive cricket in over two months.
    D. The team was bounced out in England and no preparation was done to over come this short coming. We were bounced out once again in the West Indies.

  4. You are very right Vishal. Players dont seems to be motivated enough since money invloved in WC is much less than that of IPL.

  5. Dhoni, who else would you blame here.
Anybody will tell you ... win the toss get the total on board.. chasing team will be under pressure all thetime... why did not he understand that??

  6. The yop order has to be blamed. poeple like Ghambir who are T20 specialists and test match players struggle against an ordinary WI bowling attack? How long can you keep someone like Yuvraj in the team? they need to be kicked out and taught a lesson, big names are no good unless they can score. I am sure Tiwari or Utthapa would have done better than Yuvraaj - HE SUCKS

  8. I think the IPL is to be blamed for the Indian debacle in the T20 World Cup. The players have become to complacent. Because of IPL India has lost its competitive advantage as players have started playing lot more matches and also why should they play for national pride if they getting more money from IPL.

  9. It is hard to find the agression in Dhoni's eyes now which he had shown in IPL matches

  10. Money seems to be everything for the players now a days. They seems to be serious for cricket if money is involved.

  11. At the end of the dy, one should realise the importance of technique. look at the success of Jayawardene and Tendy and Dravid in the IPL T20 2010.There is more to cricket than slambang or masala. A player should be judged on his ability to play on all surfaces and conditions.

  12. You are right Suresh. Look at Sachin and Kalis's performance in IPL. This shows the importance of technique.

  13. I would put the blame squarely on the players themselves and the coaching staff. We have known for decades that Indian players in general are very weak in playing short pitched balls. If I were a player in the Indian team I would focus my practice sessions to improve my play against short pitched balls and bouncers. It is just incredulous to see how poorly the team prepares against quality bowling. Are the players and the team management blind to the same tactics used by every opponent against India? Come on people...Prepare bouncy wickets and practice batting against short pitched balls and bouncers for Christ sake........

  14. Why Sachin opted not to play in T20 World cup? Bcoz it is not lucrative enough to attract our "GOD", who decided to play IPL final even when he was injured. So money, brand endorsement, and leisure comes first than country's pride. And we idiots pray n adore them as our idols. It was a matter of time only and now we see Dhoni running out of luck. Micromax Ad by MSD - Pls. Pls. Pls. mera peeccha chhodiye. I feel it's time for him to leave us and concentrate only on IPL.

  15. You should not blame sachin. 11 people who were on field in WestIndies are the one who should be blamed.
Everyone knows Sachin has opted out of the T20 to give others the chance to play for India.

  16. Look at India's performance once again against SriLanka. Indians never seen united and with agression against Lankans yesterday.
Look at Dhoni's batting 23 from 19 bowls and his reply after the match
"IPL is not responsible for the teams performance"
How Dhoni is so sure about this ????

  17. It's simple. You win the toss, you bat.

The team batting first has done better and won more games.

I was disappointed when India sent both Australia and West Indies in to bat after winning the toss.

  18. Really it is a shame for india where cricket is religion. The cause of the horror show is selecting player on basis of status not form.Second thing no proper planing to tackle opposition.India should learn a great lesson from this

  19. We all are very sad after seeing such a performance by Indian Team. It is hard to understand when BCCI would understand how much indians are attached to cricket.

  20. i would say that it's mainly because of IPL and wrong team selection.. but some where we as indians are also responsible for this. Who is making IPL as biggest hit??? Indian public who is watching the matches like crazy... If no one would be going to watch IPL either live in stadium or on our TV Sets, for whom will they play for and who will put the money in tournament.??? Definitely, i am not going to watch or support IPL from now onwards..

  21. ITs looking as if all the matches were fixed. Its had to beleive isn't it..
If not see my stats .
1.Why did dhoni opted for the same team(especially Jadeja and m.vijay)even though they were not playing to thier names?
2.Why did he opted for fielding in both key matches after winning toss knowing that they are playing on bouncy track without having good pace bowlers.
3.Why didn't they played Vinay Kumar even though he performed well in IPL(that too in bangalore which again is bouncy track).
4.Why Dhomni was coming in at No. 6 and Yuvi up the order knowing that he is not in good touch.
    and the list continues

  22. These ups and downs are part of game.Offcourse there are some unanswered questions on selection of Vijay instead of uthappa to replace sehwag.

All is not lost, they can win and I feel they will today against Sri Lanka.Dinest Kartik should replace vijay and vinay kumar for jadeja.

We have seen in the past Dhoni coming one down and staying in the middle for quite some time.He needs to do it now.Boys are out cofidence after two loses so I think Dhoni shd anchor the innings and let other rotate arround him.

Take it or leave it...Dhoni is the best to handle pressure in Indian team offcourse can handle bouncers as well.

  23. Dhoni has already lost to SriLanka :-)

Still will you say Dhoni is the best to handle pressure? Dhoni himself has scored 23 from 19 balls.
