Housing Scandal in Mumbai

One more scandal, but now it is in Mumbai.
Some irregularities have been noticed in the allotement of government built housing land by MHADA(Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority) in Mumbai.

Maharashtra had decided to allot prime two-bedroom High Income Group apartments in the upmarket suburb of Versova to 203 serving and former members of the state legislature, many of whom, in clear violation of allotment rules, already own one or more homes in Mumbai.

In August 2009, 225 apartments in a 13-storey building in Versova to Rajyog Housing Society has been sanctioned by CM. These 225 flats were among 1,088 built by MHADA as public housing.
Name of the allottees were Chavan's Cabinet colleagues Nitin Raut and Harshvardhan Patil, former minister Anees Ahmad, the chairman of the State Road Transport Corporation, Sudhakar Paricharak, and former MLA Sevakbhau Patil. All of these people are havng their own homes in Shubhada MLA Housing Colony in Worli.
This allotement to these people was against the MHADA rules.

When Mr Chief Minister was asked regarding this issue, he said, he can not coment on case to case basis.
Mr Chief Minister, why can not you comment on case to case basis when people who are involved in irregularties are the ones who are close to you and being a chief minister you are the one who is responsible for all kind of irregularites and corruption in the state.

  1. I am not shocked. We have become habitual of living with these politicians or in other words with corruption.

  2. We are progressing as a country. World ia watching India now. We are coming at the world map now. But if we have the right people at the top then we can double this progress.

But unfortunately this is not the case. People at top are filling their own pockets.

  3. Politices and polititions are the root cause of most of th problems in India. I am sure Mr Ashok Chavan will form some committee which will never do the inspection. Why can not Chief Minister of the state can take immediate action against all these irregularities?

Should not he go through all the documents which applicants have submitted in order to apply for these flats? How much time it will take to go through documents of people mentioned in the post by Brij?

He should have taken some immediate step and set some example in front of us to prove that he is not a part of corrupt polities.

  5. I dont think this is the right attitude (by my friend in above reply).

I know it is always a tough call to change the existing things and not a cup of tea of a single hand. But nothing is impossible.

Many a little makes a mickle. If we join our hands then changing this corrupted system is not impossibl.

We can use RTI(Right To Information) and try to question these irregularites.
